The Thomas Jefferson Gardens board will host its fourth and final legislative forum for 2019 on Saturday, May 4, at 11 am at the Education and Welcome Center.
The 88th General Assembly adjourned on Saturday afternoon, April 27. While this was six days earlier than the Legislative calendar prescribed, it did require a late night session on Thursday night/Friday morning. Measureable changes regarding a city’s bonding, as well as potential IPERS funding was impacted.
Senator Jerry Behn, Greene County’s senator, along with Representative Phillip Thompson of Jefferson have both been invited to summarize the activities associated with the Legislative session.
Behn informed the Thomas Jefferson Gardens board in March that he will be attending to the planting of his if possible. However, Thompson will be present, and his father Charlie will provide pie to those persons who attend the forum.
Chuck Offenburger of rural Cooper will once again serve as substitute moderator for Rick Morain. Thomas Jefferson Gardens board members will serve coffee.
Students of the Greene County Community Schools, and Paton-Churdan Schools are cordially invited to attend, along with the constituents of Behn and Thompson.
These sessions are sponsored by the Thomas Jefferson Gardens board to maintain and fulfil Jefferson’s legacy as documented in a quote: “An educated citizenry is a vital requisite for our survival as a free people.”
